When I think back upon last year, I laugh. I laugh my eyes out at how immature I was. I laugh my belly to a rock at how dramatic. How boy-crazy. How deeply I thought I was "in love" and that our (by "our" I mean Specimen #1 and my) friendship should be documented by film. The following summer was no different. I'm probably still so dramatic, but I scoff at how ridiculously infatuated I was with the thought of a boy liking me.
I am obviously living a completely different life since then, but the friendship never ended. Everyone asked, and I legitimately didn't know the answer. I swore to myself I wouldn't, but in an hour of boredom and procrastination, I did. At first sight, the tears filled my eyes. Unsure if they were happy tears or other kinds, I quickly began this blog to occupy my mind and remove those wet little drops of salt water.
I'm hesitant about continuing to read it. But I probably will. Then I'll slip back into the beginning of this year mode. More like the beginning of March mode. There were reminders everywhere of how last year's March had happened, and how it became "the best ending" of a school year for me. For instance, the talent show, the soccer season. Eating lunch at a certain table. Instead of shunning, I smile at those memories and the great friendship we had. Have. He's a great kid, and I know we became friends for a reason. And right now he's doing his best, the best way he knows how.
Oh the irony of my life.

Life. Where have you gone?
Third term is over. I'm almost done with my high school career. Exciting? Stupendously. Frightening? Slightly.
My life has flashed by, and I'm not sure I have been living it to the fullest. I actually know I haven't.
Here are some things I forgot to mention, that are most definitely worth documentation:
*** I went Country Dancing. With a boy whose codename is Gentleman #2 (GM#2). It was simply the second best date I've ever been on. Though we walked in as rookies, soon enough we were flipping, twirling, dipping, and tricky-tricking like pros. We walked out of that little country town place high on dancing. And it was so invigorating.
***Sterling Scholar State Ceremony. I didn't win, obviously. But I did meet some of the funniest, sweetest girls that I sat by from my category. We had the greatest time. Then my fam came, gave me lots of sugar, and my parents, older sisters, and I went to the blessed Coldstone Creamery for some i-c-e-c. I got "the ushe" {Sinless Sans Fat Sweet Cream mixed with Raspberry Sorbet, topped off with White Chocolate Chips. mmmm...} I was also asked if I had been asked to prom yet. What?? This never happens to me!! were precisely my thoughts.
***Second period. Thursday. I wandered to the journalism room to get my picture taken for being "Artist of the Year" for dance. We went outside to take the said photograph. SWAT team appears out of no where. Police Chief told us that there was a lockdown drill occurring, so we would have to wait outside of the school until it was over, "unless you want the dogs to come after you." No, thank you, Mister Chief Police, Sir. I would rather not get my head bitten off by who-knows-how-many vicious German Shepherds. So we waited. And waited. And waited. We thought it was over after about twenty minutes, so the three journalists and I walked up toward the building. Bad Idea. A SWAT team member bursts out the door with his gun pointed at us. Calm yourself, sir. We didn't know it wasn't over yet. My bad. Forty minutes later.... I returned to class untouched by any canine jaws or army artillery. My drawing class had not been so lucky. Because of me being M.I.A., my teacher had to slip a red card beneath the door. Little did she know that the SWAT men would barge into the classroom shouting, "Put your hands up!!" When asked to exit with the team, the poor old lady answered, "I don't know if I should." OF course you should, woman! This is the police force you're dealing with. So I got a free period of basking in the sun, while my teacher nearly died of heart failure. I was the reason the lockdown took over fifty minutes. It was all my fault. Feels great to be recognized for something, though.
***Lastly, the sweetest thing happened to me friday night. I began the eve watching the new Footloose! with Marley. We were laughing, and having great old times together. After she left, I was alone in my room. Then I heard a strange sound. Plink, plink, plink, plink. It came from outside my window. I opened my curtains {that's a huge step for me. I never open my curtains, except for when I water my plants in the window sill. Call me paranoid.} I could only see darkness, but I heard my name. I opened the window, and out of nowhere, Gentleman #1's face peered back at me. "Meet me at the high school as soon as possible, ok?" I'm sure my face was a mass of confusion and excitement as I replied, "Ok. Yeah. Of course I will." I proceeded to get a drink, gather my things, and pull out of my driveway. A car zoomed off ahead of me. Oh so he waited to make sure I would actually come?? Were my thoughts. but it wasn't actually him. Just keep reading. So I drove my way over to the old AF High parking lot, nervous but excited. As I pulled in, I saw four cars parked in a circle, and GM#1 stood in the midst. I exited my car, and hesitantly walked toward him. I heard a song coming from one of the cars. It happened to be one of my very faves. "So She Dances" by Josh Groban. I don't know if he actually knew that or if it was just a coincidence, but hey, either way he scored in my book. He asked me to dance with him. As we began dancing, all four of the car's headlights came on. It was magic. And I totally give props to the four unknown gentlemen who hid in their cars to give us some alone time. {how awk would it have been if they were just sitting there watching?? I wasn't paying attention to them anyways, so I guess that doesn't even matter.} The song neared it's ending, and GM#1 walked toward the car that the music was coming from. On the hood of the car was a special something. He returned to where I was standing and got down on one knee. As he presented the dozen red roses to me, he popped the question. "Eliza Summerhays, will you go to prom with me??" I was stunned. My face, once again, probably looked ridiculous as I squealed, "Yes I would love to go to prom with you!!!" I couldn't stop thanking him all the way back to my car. My dream prom is coming true. {I always wanted someone to get on one knee with roses and ask me to a dance. Ever since it happened to Clarissa about four years ago in the middle of ballet class. How ironic, right?} Ah. I loved it so much. And I can't wait for April the 28th.
He picks a great bunch of roses, don't you think?

A Tribute.
We met in the most unlikely circumstances. And just like magic, we were the best of friends. Neither of us can recall how it happened, really. There was never a "let's be friends." "OK!" moment. All I can remember is the time she put her name in my phone as Amy Hotty. It has remained so to this day.
Today is her birthday. Adorned with four inch wedge shoes, a crown, and balloons, she traipsed around the hallways of AF High like the ruler of the world. She is, after all, a frumpqueen. Everyone and their g-ma knows this little woman. She is highly favored by men, the drama fiends, and even more men, but most importantly, she is highly favored by Me.
In less than one short year, we have conquered the world together. We've practically been to H and back, but somehow we've survived. Our day of parting as we move off to separate colleges will be one tragic day.
But until then....
Some of my fondest memories of me and my frumpqueen:
-HSM, duh.
-"Stop pushing me!!!!!!" (that little woman has got a mean scream. Lookout potential victims.)
-Introducing me to Flamin' Hot Cheetos.
-When she laughs at my Phyllis voice.
-"I'm. SORry."
-Becoming her personal secretary.
-When she almost got ran over by a wheelchair in the "birth canal" hallway. "crazy crazy crazy crazy crazy crazy!"
-Walking home to my house from the high school ("Welp. We better start walking. doo doo doo.... doo doo doo." Her look of surprise=priceless.)
-"I just want to trace the veins in your head. It's like you're a tree!"
-Digital photography when we were taking funny pictures and had a laughing attack.
-Day of H for Footloose (technically this happens on the 24 of this month, but seeing as I wrote this late, it makes sense.)
-Her obsession with my soft skin and boney body. (This one is completely awkward. nbd.)
The list goes on fore'er.

No Time.
Zero. Nada. My days seem to be getting shorter and shorter, and the list of things exponentially grow! If I had one super power it would be to stop time and aging and everyone would freeze in their places until I could accomplish everything on my list, then I'd unfreeze time and everything will return to as it was. Except I won't be stressed out of my mind.
Here's the issue. When I get stressed for long amounts of time, I get sinus infections. Real bad ones too. And then being sick just stresses me out even more. It's a vicious cycle that I would like to precaution you away from. That made zero sense. En bee dee.
This is what I've been up to:
2/29/12--Sterling Scholar State Competition. YAY. Don't find out the winner until March 21. boo.
Since the beginning of time--shin splints. yum.
Last Wednesday--physical therapy for the shins (see bruised shins picture below). Aka to H and back. Picture this: me on a massage table-ish looking thing, rigid as a stone, holding back the tears, oxygen, and vomit. And a day spent at the blessed chiropractor. He's my miracle worker.
Since forever and twelve days ago--sacrum rotated ten degrees more than it should be, resulting in back issues. My back is wonky. Just ask me to bend over backwards for you next time you see me.
Friday-- sick leaf creeping into my pooch
Saturday-- wake up at 5:30 am. Cougarette workshop at 7:30 am- noon ish pm. Check out the pictures of my gnarly knee below. A masterpiece created at this said workshop. Straight from BYU, where I was reunited with L. Jones (my long lost big sis) and McKenna (my roomie from Ballet Camp last summer and partner in crime), to the AFHS to build a set for three hours. Footloose: be there or you're dead to me. More deets to come later. I was past zombie slash comatose state and acted a lil craze craze. Then went home and celebrated a cool event with my fam. Cheesecake, gluten-free style. The yummiest, thanks to Mother.
Today--Sickest leaf in my pooch. I feel awful, but there is no time to stop. I have so many things to do.
"No time to say hello, goodbye, I'm late, I'm late, I'm late!" <----- in my head, that applied to my situation a lot more than it actually does. Bummer.
P.s. Please tell people about my blog. I'm starting to want a little more than six followers... But I appreciate all six of you!

What a sight my legs are right now. Those faded bruises are from the blasted physical therapist, and that gigantor of a bruise is from the lovely Cougs workshop. It actually didn't hurt that badly until the bruise started forming... Which was right after the second time I landed on it. It looked cooler on Saturday. It was a turquoise and purple golf ball sticking out, just below my knee.

the lack thereof.
So much has happened in this crazytown life of mine, but I have this much time to actually document all of it:
(this is the part where you visualize me holding up a big fat zero created by the curvature of my fingers.... Wha? See ya.)
Maybs someday I'll have time and motivation. Who am I kidding? I'm a senior at the oldest high school since microwave popcorn was invented. I'm also aware that the previous sentence made no sense. Nuance.
